Aravinda, are you right?

When our limited overs cricket team started in Zimbabwe they seemed a disorganized lot. But quickIy, under the leadership of Dilshan they picked up and by the time of the final they were a well knit team. Our fast bowlers bowled extremely well. Young Chandimal kept wickets better than Sangakkara and in batting, if he curbs his youthful exhubarence he would be one of the best. Randiv bowled exceptionally well and Jeevan Mendis’s contribution made our spin attack quite penetrative as never seen for a long time. Furthermore, Jeevan Mendis is a genuine top grade all rounder who did not get much of a batting chance and he is one who should have played long ago, but made to vacillate for so long due to the mistakes of the so called selectors. Having at last got a chance and having performed so well it is a crime to cut him off again. Aravinda says he is watching the performances of Chandimal and Mendis. Your watching is not needed. Let them play. Are you going to watch them till they fade away?

One correct thing the new selection committee has done is to remove Sanath Jayasuriya. They would have done better if they removed Muralitharan also. He will not take wickets or restrict runs. He is now slow in the field and nil in batting. Also what is the aged Samaraweera doing in the team with his lacklustre performances of late?

Aravinda says Herath was selected because Dambulla is a spinning wicket. Very good. That is the very reason Jeevan also should have been selected as a bonus in bowling, specially because he could have been selected for his batting alone. Aravinda says that Jeevan and Chandimal could not have fitted into the team in the first three matches. This is just bunkum. Sangakkara’s performances of late has not been up to his normal level. If he gives up keeping to Chandimal, he will do better in batting and captaining.

My team is Sangakkara, Mahela, Dilshan, Tharanga, Mathews, Jeevan, Chandimal, Randiv, Kulasekara, Herath and Malinga.
