Police informant nabbed with heroin

A man, whom Police described as an informant, was arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) with 50 gm of heroin. The PNB sleuths recovered a bunch of keys.

When asked to whom the keys belonged, he had been, at the outset, reluctant to reveal anything about them, but later admitted they had been given to him by a senior Police officer whom he named. Further investigations revealed that the senior officer had handed over the keys to the suspect since he wanted him to rent out one of his houses.

The senior officer concerned has said that he trusted the suspect since he was a Police informant and wanted the suspect to find a tenant for his house. Investigators said that it was not wrong for a Police officer to trust an informant.

The suspect would be prosecuted for possessing heroin, investigators said.
